The CBC News Facebook group asked readers to pick the city they think is most social, and readers voted.
Here are their picks.
Montreal has been named the most socially active city in Canada.
It’s also ranked No. 2 in the world.
It took home a spot at No. 4 in the rankings for social connections, but it ranked lower than other Canadian cities like Winnipeg, which had the third-highest score in the survey.
Winnipeg, with an estimated population of nearly 17 million, is home to more than 2 million people.
In a recent article, the CBC reported the city’s popularity has dropped from the second-most social city in 2011 to No. 23 this year.
It said the drop is largely due to a lack of young people in the city, which has seen an influx of immigrants since the end of the 2010-11 recession.
Toronto, Canada’s second-largest city, has been the most active city of the five cities that made the top 10 list.
The Toronto Sun reports that the city was named the “social capital of the world” in the last edition of the Social Capital Index, which ranks major Canadian cities on the basis of social connections.
Toronto had the highest score in all five categories, but came in just ahead of Montreal.
The city also ranked among the top five cities for both youth engagement and engagement with their peers.
Ottawa, Canada, was also in the top three cities in the ranking, but fell to No, 15 in the study.
Other cities to be ranked No 10 include Halifax, Quebec, Toronto, Saskatoon and Montreal.
